At the beginning of February, U.S. Coast Guard personnel were carrying out standard examinations at a port in Texas. They didn’t have any unusual expectations. However, they did hear scratching and barking as they got closer to one container. They gave the order to lower and open the container without waiting.

A dog jumped out as soon as they opened the door. On its Facebook page, the Coast Guard Heartland revealed this unexpected news. Generally speaking, seeing a dog is happy, but not in this kind of risky situation.

It was unknown how the lovely puppy got inside the container. She had been there for a week or more, starving, without drink or food, in total darkness, and surrounded by the terrifying sounds of the cargo port. At last, the poor pup was safe.

To everyone’s dissatisfaction, she tested positive for heartworm, a condition that required treatment, leaving her exhausted and starved from her experience. Nevertheless, despite all of these difficulties, a ray of hope did exist: Connie was expecting a child. She had to call on strength for her unborn pups as well as herself during her time stuck in the dark.
